Buying A Kitten

We breed Norwegian Forest Cat Kittens to preserve the oldest bloodlines we can find from Scandinavia as close to the old original type as we can , producing  large boning, good coat quality, gentle temperament and maintaining the important wild expression.

WE believe in keeping and promoting this majestic cat as it once was.

*****

All of our kittens are from exclusive bloodlines.  Our imported breeding cats can no longer be reproduced in their entirety anywhere in the world now as their lines are at an end.

*****

Our kittens are home raised with the security of trust and kindness in the human hand and mind from the day they are born.

They will only go to homes that follow this path for their future.

*****

There are many UK breeders of NFC Kittens.  We encourage anyone interested in a kitten to visit as many breeders as possible to gain an idea of the variation and diversity of this breed. It is important that any owner has a kitten to match their desire and circumstances. However, no breeder recommend visits to several breeders on the same day as this can cause infection cross over from one cattery to another.

When purchasing a Norwegian Forest Kitten from a breeder in the UK  make sure the kitten is registered with The GCCF,  FB. or TICA. Registration verifies the kitten has a genuine pedigree, the parents are who they are supposed to be and also that the breeder is  responsible enough to prevent indiscriminate breeding practices.

All kittens from Norgeskaukatt Breeding Cats are registered with GCCF or FB.

We only sell kittens to indoor homes or homes with cat proofed gardens/ cat runs.

We do however, relax this criteria if they are to go to more remote dwellings, for example a farm which is this breeds natural environment.

These cats are bold and fearless and in the Norwegian literature it states " no matter how well provided for these cats are, if they are of a mind to wander off they will do so" many of these cats are killed in RTA's before reaching the age of 1 year old. We breed our babies to have a full happy life.

Our kittens are sold to appropriate homes that show a lifetime commitment.

Our Kittens  leave us at  minimum 14  weeks old.

Our kittens  are  registered with the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy.

All WHITE Kittens of Norgeskaukatt bloodlines for breeding are BAER (Hearing) tested.

All kittens have a treatment programme  for endo and ecto parasites.

They are fully litter trained and well socialised

They are fully vaccinated, micro-chipped and insured for 4 weeks.

All kittens come with a kitten pack which includes food and diet sheet etc.

24 hours before they are due to leave us they will be given a thorough health check by our veterinary surgeon who will then issue a Veterinary Health Certificate.

Breeding/show cats  will be furnished with GCCF registration documentation and all kittens will have a  5 generation pedigree.

All kitten owners are expected to sign a contract with us to agree their future welfare and to promote responsible ownership( this contract is  based on the GCCF contract).

We provide a full back up service for support and advice for the duration of the kittens lives.

Should any of our kitten owners have a change of circumstances whereby they can no longer provide for the kitten/cat then we ask for the kitten / cat to be returned to us.  **

We will not allow for any of our  kittens to be resold or re-homed and certainly not go to a rescue establishment.

This criteria is for the duration of the cats life.

WE promote responsible breeding and kitten ownership.

All kittens sold as pets are registered on the non-active register which means that no progeny will be registered.

WE do not sell our kittens with an option of breeding from them unless they are specifically sold for this purpose.

ALL breeders with Cats from Norgeskaukatt Bloodlines are registered with the GCCF  or Felis Britannica (FIFe) as are their cats and any kittens bred from our cats..

** Please note that on very rare occasion when our bred cats are returned to us due to owners change of circumstances - we do NOT resell these cats/kittens.  They are not a commodity.

We do request that any new owner make a donation to a cat charity of which their cheque is made payable to and also the new owners will sign a kitten/cat contract with us.
